FELIX CHAN, director

Felix specializes in cultural hybridity, technological theatre, dance, and independent film performances. He is an experienced curator and producer who has collaborated with theatre and film companies in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and London for ten years. Felix holds a Master’s Degree in Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship, focusing on Theatre and Performance Pathway, from Goldsmiths, University of London, which he completed in 2018-2019.

His recent immersive theatre curations include: One Person, Brewing Wine, Encounter with the God of Wine in the Mountains (2024), Post Office in Hell (2024), Goddess (2024), A Haunted VR Conference (2023), A Metaverse Odyssey (2023, featuring all audiences wearing VR), Poem in a Jail (2021), and Stream of Consciousness (2018). He also curated Together, a digital immersive theatre piece by Factory Irregular for the Prague Quadrennial in 2019, and Milonga Online by the Sea (2021) and The Future Project (2021). Since 2021, he has created a platform called ‘The Institute of Imagination,’ which supports innovative performances by Hong Kong artists (2022, 2024).

In addition, Felix received the Award for Young Artist (Critic) at the Hong Kong Art Development Awards in 2015, presented by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. He has served as a judge for The Hong Kong Theatre Libre Award since 2013 and has been invited as a resident critic at festivals worldwide. Notably, he was one of six art critics globally who discussed the relationship between art festivals and the pandemic at the Holland Festival in 2020.

As an illustrator and graphic designer based in Hong Kong, Felix has won numerous competitions organized by RTHK, various airline companies, the Hong Kong Ballet, and the Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature. More recently, he has collaborated with local singers, pop groups, banks, NGOs, and individual artists, including Tai Chi, Lam Chi Cheung, and Teresa Fu, as well as youth associations in Hong Kong, HSBC, restaurants, and a pension in Taiwan (MAYROOMS).
