"Institute of imagination 2022" Call for Performing Arts x Technology Creative Proposals

Art-trch focus researching programmme,  FELIXISM CRRATION

Jun-Oct 2022

Milonga Online by the Sea

Film Project by FELIXISM CRRATION

Feb-Apr2021, Online programme

The seaside. By the forest. Evening breeze. Music. Tango. Five men and women from different parts of the city, each with different personalities and perspectives, have come together this evening to enjoy the “Milonga”, the dance party culture of the Argentine Tango.

The Argentine Tango is a charismatic dance that attracts the eyes of the world. The milonga - a combination of Tango dancing, drinking and chit-chat - is a social and cultural activity widely popular in South America. People dress up according to the ambience of the party, and on their feet are shoes suitable for tango. They socialise, drink, saunter, toast each other, and chat, and when in the mood, with just a tacit eye contact, they are ready to take to the dance floor. Here, no social rules are set, everything is impromptu. It is an everyday social activity among friends to enjoy beautiful moments of their leisure time together.

Audience members can choose from one of the dancers going to a milonga as the subject to follow throughout the entire journey. It is a narrative of an ordinary day and there are no gripping or dramatic turns. The fun is in the details of the happenings in the milonga and beyond. Throughout the video, there is no dialogue, only Tango music, and like Tango, the story only begins the moment the dancers encounter.

Meniscus Going Online

The online interactive performance by Ghost and John

Jun 2020, Online programme

Meniscus was premiered on 1 Nov 2019 in London, a multimedia ensemble work drawing from the trauma of witnessing unfortunate happenings through the screens. Now, as the artists performed at “Meniscus” are dispersed around the world and live group shows are not possible, we are presenting you an online interactive game version of Meniscus.

At Meniscus Going Online,  we invite you to experience moments of the works by choosing your own journey as you click on different choices and view different footages, token at different corners of the world. In the game, You could be watching them performing dance on a Scandinavian snowy field and then be listening to them telling you a story on the street of the East Asian city. Through this, we experiment with what is liveness on screen and how to present a work about screen trauma through the screens.

Let's choose the journey(s).

How to present the love life of Hong Kong people to Aliens in the time of Pandemic (online performance)

Online performance, Reframe Theatre x FELIXISM CRRATION

Jun 2020, Online programme

''Those people, that crowd of people, moving to different directions, are like cells. They, like us, if only living in a giant body, then the pain I am used to is only temporary, not worth mentioning. I feel this after having been to a bookstore in Tsim Sha Tsui. At that moment, I just stared at the crowd who was looking at the Christmas decorations." One day, she suddenly said to me. Before that, she stared at me for ten seconds. I am just wondering what kind of spirit is living in this girl's body?

After his completion of three epic works: 'A concise history of future China', Yan Pat-to returns to explore the most intimate and yet painful part of himself. One's memory is inseparable to the city. We can't tell our story without city.

Nothing’s gonna change my world

Fresh Wave, Best Cinematography (Open Division) 2013), Actors Lab 2014 Director, Ma Ka Yue Producer, Felix Chan

2013

The pendulum of life swings both ways, relentlessly and callously and the only certainty is its evanescence. A bonesetter treats patients from all walks afflicted with bone ailments and returns home at night to a hoarding attic and an unresponsive partner. His orderly world is thrown into disarray one day by a bizarre vision of the skeletal variety. A health freak receives a sudden call in his exquisitely furnished harbour-view bachelor's pad that will send his life into turmoil. Inside a swanky apartment on the peak, a woman savours the slow passing of solitary time at the breakfast table, nursing a fateful idea between contemplative bites. Depicted apart though it could as well be superimposed or intertwined, these characters delve into a multiplicity of experiences, whether lived or imagined, in which every element perpetuates the cyclical motion of being.
